Blizzard Owner Raking In The Money
The parent company of Blizzard Entertainment, Vivendi Games, is reporting an astonishing revenue of $685.4 million for the first half of this year. That is a 69% increase in revenue as compared to the first half of 2006. The success of Vivendi Games is attributed to the overwhelming popularity of the World Of Warcraft franchise.
Burning Crusade was the latest in the line of expansion packs for the series, which sold for a record number of 3.5 million copies in only a months time. The user base of WoW has also risen dramatically to 9 million, set back in June. There is no stopping the popularity of WoW and other massive multiplayer online games due to their addicting nature and complex worlds. And it seems there is no stopping the cash roll of Vivendi Games as it capitalizes on the WoW success.
