Europe Gets Xbox 360 Price Cut
Microsoft is cutting prices on the Xbox 360 again, this time in Europe. Earlier this month Microsoft dropped the price in the U.S. by $50, a 13% decrease from the previous MSRP. The price cut in Europe will include a decrease of 50 euros on the premium model, down to 349.99 euros ($470 USD).
The core model of the Xbox 360, which lacks an internal hard-drive, will also see a price cut of 20 euros, down to a MSRP of 299.99 euros. Microsoft also has plans to release the Xbox 360 Elite model in Europe at a price of 499.99 euros. The Elite model includes a 120GB hard-drive and a sleek black exterior.
Microsoft’s price cut on the Xbox 360 followed a previous reduction of price on Sony’s Playstation 3, which saw a 17% decrease to $500. Both companies have failed to produce profits on their game consoles, making price cuts all the more difficult.
Current statistics show Microsoft has sold 10.43 million Xbox 360s, Nintendo has sold 10.41 million Wiis, and Sony trailing with 4.16 millions Playstation 3s.
