Male Dies In Cyber Cafe Gaming Binge
A 30 year-old Asian male died Saturday afternoon in the city of Guangzhou, China after a 3 day gaming binge in a cyber cafe.
The Beijing newspaper that reported the story Monday says paramedics tried to revive the man, but were unsuccessful and pronounced the man dead at the cafe. The Asian man apparently died from exhaustion after his continuous gameplay. The Beijing source has not confirmed what game the man was playing. The Beijing report also stated that 100 witnesses left the internet cafe after witnessing the man’s death.
This incident is another fatality similar to others after long continuous hours of playing video games, which has been dubbed “internet addiction” by psychiatrists. China has 140 million internet users, many of which are gamers that play for long hours in public internet cafes.
