Xbox 360 Arcade

Microsoft has announced the release of the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $279.99. The Xbox 360 Arcade will include a wireless controller, HDMI connectivity, 256MB of memory, and 5 best-selling games. The games will include PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy.

“As families gather together this holiday, it’s the perfect time to launch a new low-priced, high-value Xbox 360 that plays games, TV shows and music for everyone to enjoy,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “In addition to offering an incredible all-in-one package for families to get right into the fun, the Xbox 360 Arcade system features the industry-leading Family Settings, which allow parents to control what their kids are watching and playing — and we know how important that control is to families around the world.”

This may sound like a great deal for some, but the Arcade is really just the core system of the Xbox 360. There will be no hard drive and no HDD. The Xbox 360 Arcade is targeted towards “family friendly” gaming and more likely for younger children. Don’t expect to be playing many newer games without a hard drive. In a previous article Microsoft gave the go ahead for developers to require hard drives.
