PS3 Price Cut Boosts Weekly Sales By 300%

Gameindustry.biz has an article reporting on a weekly sales boost for the PlayStation 3 of 250-300% since the recent price cut on the console.

Before the price cut, Sony had a reported 30,000 to 40,000 weekly sales average on the PlayStation 3. The week ending November 11, 2007, PS3 sales rose to a weekly average of 100,000 units due to the price cuts and introduction of the 40GB model.

“It’s the breakthrough we’ve been anticipating,” Sony chairman and CEO Howard Stringer told The Associated Press. “We’ve been holding our breath.”

Wii sales still lead the big three consoles, with sales at 9.3 million units since October.
