Kane & Lynch Site Delusional About Ratings

Kane & Lynch has been getting a lot of press attention lately, but not for the good reasons. Former Gamespot editor, Jeff Gertsmann, was rumored to be fired due to his negative review of Kane & Lynch, which was not in Gamespot’s best interest due to massive ads for the game appearing on the site.
The story of Gerstmann’s departure has since made its way through the web with a response questioning today’s video game reviews. It has gotten to the point where the Kane & Lynch website is lying about reviews from Gameinformer and Gamespy, inflating their reviews drastically. It would appear both review sites favored Kane & Lynch, giving the game appraisal and 5 stars.
Both ratings shown by the Kane & Lynch site are incorrect; the quotes reflect statements from previews of the game. Gamespy in fact gave the game only 3 stars, while Gameinformer gave it a rating of 7/10, they don’t even deal with stars.
This would appear to be a delusional attempt to save Kane & Lynch from poor sales, especially after the whole Gertsmann ordeal. The question now is when are game reviews a trust worthy view, and when are they fueled by advertising and corporate pressure?
