
Kane & Lynch has been getting a lot of press attention lately, but not for the good reasons. Former Gamespot editor, Jeff Gertsmann, was rumored to be fired due to his negative review of Kane & Lynch, which was not in Gamespot’s best interest due to massive ads for the game appearing on the site.

2K Sports has announced the Holiday Edition of the Third Annual Bounce Tour starring Peanut Butter Wolf, Madlib, Karriem Riggins, Guilty Simpson, J Rocc and Percee P. The month-long 14-date tour – presented by Stones Throw Records and VTech Phones – began on November 8th in Los Angeles, CA and is rocking venues across the nation with a signature blend of live music and sports gaming action.
Gamer attendees can visit the 2K Sports lounges on the tour sites to play games, and receive free demo disks of popular sports games.

You know it’s time to step away from your Xbox 360 when you end up going to juvenile detention after your Mom tells you to stop playing. That is exactly what happened to a kid in Indian River County in Florida. After the juvenile’s Mom told him to stop playing Halo 3 he went on a rampage.
The Mom took away the Wi-Fi adapter and hid it away from the kid, prompting the kid to search frantically through the house and ultimately punching his mom in the face.

Electronic Arts has announced two new celebrity cast members for the Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath expansion pack. The new expansion will feature Natasha Henstridge (Species trilogy) and Carl Lumbly (‘Alias’) in its all-new, high-definition, live action video sequences. Henstridge and Lumbly will be joined by veteran Command & Conquer™ actor Joe Kucan, who originated the role of Kane, the megalomaniacal leader of the Brotherhood of Nod.

In partnership with Ubisoft, the rock band Korn will be releasing a single titled “Haze” for the Haze video game. The song will be launched to radio and video in November 2007, to coincide with the launch of the Haze video game. “Haze” will be available for purchase via online music download sites.
“Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the shit!” said Jonathan Davis. “I had to come up with a track that can hit up that kind of rush I get from the game and I think we really rocked it!!”

A 30 year-old Asian male died Saturday afternoon in the city of Guangzhou, China after a 3 day gaming binge in a cyber cafe.
The Beijing newspaper that reported the story Monday says paramedics tried to revive the man, but were unsuccessful and pronounced the man dead at the cafe. The Asian man apparently died from exhaustion after his continuous gameplay. The Beijing source has not confirmed what game the man was playing. The Beijing report also stated that 100 witnesses left the internet cafe after witnessing the man’s death.

A new survey by PopCap.com suggests employees may not be as productive as the boss thinks. The Seattle based game provider surveyed 2,842 office workers, revealing one in four casual video gamers spending their working hours playing games. These figures not only include employees, but office executives as well.
One third of executives taking part in the survey admitted to playing video games during office hours, making up eight percent of the total surveyed workers. The majority of those surveyed show gaming activities take place during lunch breaks or other breaks, but fourteen percent admitted to playing games during office meetings and conference calls.

What about the word rootkit started such hysteria in the gaming world? And why was GamingBOB.com all of the sudden the authoritarian in the complexities of rootkits?
When I wrote about Bioshock and SecuROM I intended to alert my thirty or so random readers a day, most of which are just passing by to download my phpBB theme, about the service being installed on their computers when installing the BioShock demo. This came to light after running RootkitRevealer, which picked up a SecuROM registry key. So the article was set, I had made reference to a “rootkit”. No big deal right? Apparently not when some random reader stumbles upon it and submits it to Slashdot.

Reuters is reporting a new game being released by Hezbollah computer experts. Special Force 2 brings last year’s 34-day conflict between the Lebanese guerrilla group and Israel to the computer screens of gamers.
“This game presents the culture of the resistance to children: that occupation must be resisted and that land and the nation must be guarded,” Hezbollah media official Sheikh Ali Daher said.
The shooter puts you in the conflict as a Hezbollah fighter, also know as a Mujahid. Players can progress through the game by collecting weapons and points after killing Israeli soldiers.
