Despite BioShock’s DRM/Rootkit debacle, and widescreen issues, the actual game is one of the best of this year. The British Academy of Television Arts has awarded BioShock the Best Game of The Year Award at the 2007 British Academy Video Games Awards.

According to the ESRB, Rockstar Games is not to blame for the adult only hack for Manhunt 2 that has surfaced on the internet. A russian hacker was able to hack the code for the PlayStation Portable version to unlock the adult only content. The hack removes lighting-effects and color filters intended to hide the brutal kills in Manhunt 2.
Ars Technica was able to get a response from ESRB president Patricia Vance during a conference call.
“Once numerous changes to the game’s code have been made and other unauthorized software programs have been downloaded to the hardware device which circumvent security controls that prevent unauthorized games from being played on that hardware, a player can view unobscured versions of certain violent acts in the game,” Vance said. Konami has decided to push the release date of Metal Gear Solid 4 further down the line to the second quarter of 2008. The title was initially slated to release during the winter of 2007.
Konami has stated they are delaying the release “to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.”

IGN.com has confirmed that Unreal Tournament 3 has reached its gold status and is still on track for its November 19 release in the U.S. The PlayStation 3 version “will soon follow,” says Epic to IGN.

Today Electronic Arts announced the availability of Hellgate: London for the PC platform in North America and Europe. Hellgate: London combines the depth of a role-playing game with the action of a first-person shooter.

One of this year’s most anticipated game releases is drawing near. A Crytek community manager recently confirmed that Crysis has gone gold. The release date of Crysis is set for November 16, 2007.
“We are extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish with Crysis,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We wanted to push the boundaries both visually and with open-ended, non-linear gameplay and we believe the end result delivers that vision.”
