One of this year’s most anticipated game releases is drawing near. A Crytek community manager recently confirmed that Crysis has gone gold. The release date of Crysis is set for November 16, 2007.
“We are extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish with Crysis,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We wanted to push the boundaries both visually and with open-ended, non-linear gameplay and we believe the end result delivers that vision.”

Infinity Ward has now released the Call Of Duty 4 demo to download at several locations. The newest COD in the lineup takes place in modern day around the World. Players progress through the game as both a U.S. Marine and British S.A.S soldier.
COD 4 features 70 new authentic weapons and gear from assault rifles, laser sights, claymore mines, .50 caliber sniper rifles, and M-249 SAW machine guns.

In an apparent tip, DigitalBattle has received some information about a possible Battlefield 3 in the works. The PDF document they received includes some investor information and several features expected in the game. Microsoft and Bungie are setting an unprecedented step in the video gaming industry. The release of Halo 3 in the past week is astonishing with sales surpassing $300 million worldwide. The massive sales have also resulted in double the weekly average of sales of the Xbox 360.

In the Bungie Weekly Update: 9/28/07 release, Bungie confirms that Halo 3 does not run at 720p. The suspicions of many gamers is true, Halo 3 does in fact run at 620p. A key point to Bungie’s response is the indiscernible difference between the native 1152×640 image and the scaled 1280×720.
Excerpt from Bungie’s response:
“Naturally it’s more complicated than that. In fact, you could argue we gave you 1280 pixels of vertical resolution, since Halo 3 uses not one, but two frame buffers – both of which render at 1152×640 pixels. The reason we chose this slightly unorthodox resolution and this very complex use of two buffers is simple enough to see – lighting. Read more…

Halo 3’s release in the past few days is astounding, with sales of more than $170 million nationwide. As with BioShock’s release, many problems are surfacing on the web with Halo 3, including disc-read errors, scratched DVDs, and now claims that the game does not run in High Definition, as was advertised by Bungie.

The folks at Beyond 3D Forums have done some analyzing, and have come to the conclusion through pixel counting, that Halo 3 in fact runs natively at 640p, not 720p required for High Definition.

The launch of Halo 3 on Tuesday, September 26, was not so pleasant for some gamers. Claims of damage to limited edition copies of Halo 3 have surfaced around the web due to the packaging causing scratches.
