PS3 Fanboy has received some information about Sony’s Home Beta. The new update brings the beta to 0.8.3 with 1.0.0 being the released version. Improvements to the UI and graphical system make for a much more functional experience.

Sony has announced the April 17 release date for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue exclusively for the PlayStation 3 console. GT5 will be available in Blue-ray disc format, and as a download via the PlayStation Store. The Blue-ray disc version will offer added value with an exclusive behind-the-scenes High Definition (HD) video feature called “Beyond the Apex”. Pricing puts it at $39.99USD.
GT5 features over 60 meticulously detailed vehicles from manufacturers such as Ferrari , Audi and Nissan. Gamers can race online at 60 fps in stunning 1080p HD with up to 16 vehicles at a time on beautifully rendered tracks from around the globe, including Daytona International Speedway and a London City track.

Activision has provided a new press release announcing standalone wireless guitar controllers for Guitar Hero III. Activision’s new Guitar Hero game has had huge success, outselling every other game in October with only one week of sales during the month. Activision is likely to ride the wave of popularity with continued updates to the series.

According to The NDP Group, Activision was the #1 U.S. console and handheld publisher for the month of October, boosting its U.S. market share to a record 28.7%. Activision’s success can be attributed to the hugely popular Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which was the #1 selling game in October despite only selling for one week during the month.
“The Guitar Hero franchise has only scratched the surface of its potential since it was previously only available for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment systems and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft,” said Robert Kotick, Chairman and CEO of Activision. “Despite having significantly increased our production capabilities for the holiday, there is still a high likelihood that we will not be able to meet demand for this game on every platform.”

Activision is on its way to the best selling single product launch in the company’s history. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has exceeded $115 million in sales since its debut on October 28, 2007 in North America.
The Guitar Hero franchise has remained the #1 best-selling franchise in the U.S. through September, according to the NPD Group. The franchise has sold more than six million units worldwide to date, according to The NPD Group, Charttrack and Gfk.

Harmonix and MTV Games has revealed the final list of songs to appear in Rock Band for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2. The game will include 58 tracks that span every genre of rock ranging from alternative and classic rock to heavy metal and punk.
