More Pitfalls For BioShock – DRM Problems

BioShock is now available in stores and gamers are unraveling a few problems. First, people discovered problems with widescreen support. Now, people are discovering problems with DRM protection, and limited activations. The highly anticipated release of BioShock is leading to a lot of angry consumers due to these problems and unanswered questions by the community.

The members over at the 2K forums have brought up some unsettling news about the game. It seems 2K has gone overboard with DRM protection measures, allowing you to only activate your copy of BioShock a total of two times. Sony PS3 Folding@home V1.2 Update

Sony has announced a new update for the Folding@home application on the Playstation 3 console. This is a continuing effort to aid the Stanford University distributed computing project to solve human diseases using a protein folding computer simulation.

In five months time, more than 536,000 PS3 owners download the Folding@home application to take advantage of the ultra-fast processing power of the console. PS3 users have contributed over 600 teraflops of data, and are well on their way to helping the Folding@home project reach a milestone petaflop of data.

Wii 3.0 Firmware Update

Nintendo has released it newest firmware update for the Wii console, now 3.0. The list of changes include:

Wii Menu

  • The weather forecast will now be displayed on the Forecast Channel icon in the Wii Menu.
  • Headline news will now be displayed on the News Channel icon in the Wii Menu.
  • The current time will now be displayed in the Wii Menu.
  • The area around the Wii Message Board button will now flash when a message arrives.

PS3 Firmware 1.9

Sony is ready to release it newest firmware update for the Playstation 3 sometime this week. Version 1.9 will include several aesthetic and technical updates.

The aesthetic updates will include personalization of your menu background with your own photo. You will also be able to use emoticons when sending messages to your buddies on the Playstation Network. It is said to include an avatar feature to show movement in response to voice and video chat as well.
