Activision has set an industry standard in just the past 26 months with its extremely popular Guitar Hero franchise. According to The NPD Group, sales of the franchise have surpassed the one billion dollar mark in North America.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has made success on its own. The title was #1 in units and dollars for calendar year 2007, making it the #1 best-selling video game of all time in a single calendar year. Total sales for the Guitar Hero franchise have exceeded 14 million units since 2005 in North America.

Nintendo has released the sequel of Battalion Wars for the Wii entertainment system. Battalion Wars 2 lets players command a battalion of soldiers and vehicles while using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to target enemies precisely while moving their characters through the field of battle.
Battalion Wars 2 is a hybrid of third-person action and real-time strategy games and features 20 single-player missions. Players can command a variety of vehicles, from tanks and helicopter gunships to battleships and submarines to complete missions and progress through the game. Read more…

Electronic Arts has announced two new celebrity cast members for the Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath expansion pack. The new expansion will feature Natasha Henstridge (Species trilogy) and Carl Lumbly (‘Alias’) in its all-new, high-definition, live action video sequences. Henstridge and Lumbly will be joined by veteran Command & Conquer™ actor Joe Kucan, who originated the role of Kane, the megalomaniacal leader of the Brotherhood of Nod.

Blizzard has added another Building to StarCraft II. The Sensor Tower joins the Command Tower from the Terran.

THE EYE OF JUDGMENT is a unique trading card game that brings 3-dimensional action to the otherwise ordinary trading card game. Using the PLAYSTATION Eye for the PLAYSTATION 3 console, gamers can view their collectible trading card creatures in the third dimension.
Each trading card is embedded with a CyberCode, a proprietary technology that allows PLAYSTATION Eye to read the cards and cause the trading card character to materialize on screen. Players use mana, the form of currency used to summon creatures, as they take turns strategically placing cards and summoning creatures to take control of the board. This type of hand-eye training has been used by athletes to stimulate their reflexes and give them an edge on the competition. Nintendo jokingly adds, It’s a great tool for moms who like to keep a “peripheral vision” watch on their kids or for people who want an edge spotting holiday sales.
