Gears of War 2 (Epic Games). Gears of War 2 is the sequel to the 4.5 million-selling blockbuster that redefined the third-person tactical action game genre. Gears of War 2 continues the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad in an epic saga of survival, loss and retribution. Developed by Epic Games exclusively for Xbox 360, Gears of War 2 launches this November.
Fable 2 (Lionhead Studios). In addition to the dynamic co-op mode unveiled onstage, Peter Molyneux also announced that Carbonated Games is bringing the Fable 2 experience to Xbox LIVE Arcade. Before the game’s launch, gamers will be able to get an early taste of the Fable 2 experience and gain a head start on earning currency for use in Fable 2 by playing Fable 2-themed pub games that will be downloadable via Xbox LIVE Arcade. The currency earned in these Xbox LIVE Arcade titles will enable players to purchase items in Fable 2 when the game launches later this year.

Smarthouse.com.au has released some information about Microsoft dumping HD-DVD in favor of Blu-ray on its Xbox 360 console. One of the favoring aspects of the PlayStation 3 is its use of Blu-ray format.
Insiders at Microsoft in the USA have told SmartHouse that Microsoft has already configured a standalone Blu-ray player that can be connected into an Xbox 360 and that subject to internal marketing and sales approvals the model could be on sale within 3 months.

Sales figures from NDP from January 2008 show the PlayStation 3 outselling the Xbox 360 for the month. This is a small victory for Sony as they have been trailing in sales figures for quite some time.
During January 2008 Nintendo sold 274,000 Wii consoles, Sony sold 269,000 PlayStation 3s, while Microsoft trailed with 230,000 Xbox 360s. Overall sales dropped by 6 percent compared to last year’s January, although on a weekly basis sales were up by 18 percent.

Rockstar Games today announced the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV. The action packed third-person shooter we release in stores worldwide on April 29, 2008. GTA IV will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
“We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV,” said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. “We’ve pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment.”

IGN has learn from sources of 3D Realms a version of Duke Nukem 3D is being developed for Xbox Live. 3D Realms head George Broussard suggested that the studio would like to develop a version of the first-person shooter back in August 2007, giving Microsoft the final word.
Sources working on Duke Nukem Forever disclosed the news to IGN, revealing a release date sometime in the next several months. The Xbox Live version will feature a four-player online cooperative mode over Live. Insiders also allege that it will include an eight-player online deathmatch mode.

As a result of legal action from an American lawyer, Microsoft is now legally unable to update gamers on the status of Xbox LIVE. On January 4th, Microsoft promised Xbox LIVE subscribers a free Xbox LIVE Arcade game after outages over Christmas led to millions of gamers cut off from the service.
The American lawyer is suing Microsoft for $5m, alleging that Microsoft was in breach of contract when gamers were unable to connect to the Xbox LIVE network.

It’s true. NAMCO BANDAI Games has announced the appearance of Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur IV for the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 console. Unfortunately both will not appear on the same systems. Vader will only be available on the PlayStation 3, while Yoda is stuck on the Xbox 360.

If you were ever fortunate enough to play Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 console, you would have been experiencing one of the greatest video games ever created. Not only was the single player mode awesome, the multiplayer was unbelievably awesome. With N64’s four controllers, having four players at a time made for some serious fun.

A Georgian man is filing a suit against Microsoft allegedly claiming the company allowed his underaged son to sign up for an Xbox LIVE subscription with the man’s debit card.
Georgia resident Francisco Garcia claims that in October 2005 his son, Silvario, used his debit card to buy a $49.99, one-year subscription to Xbox Live.
A year later, Microsoft automatically renewed the Xbox LIVE subscription causing the man’s bank account to go into overdraft, hitting him with a $35 fee. Garcia claims, Microsoft “fraudulently induced a contractual relationship for Xbox Live services.”
