Autographed Xbox 360 Gets Returned Cleaned

A gamer by the name of Nathaniel is feeling a bit crappy after his autographed Xbox 360 was returned to him with the case wiped clean. Nathaniel wrote a letter to Microsoft along with his console, when he sent it in for repairs, explaining the significance of his autographed case.

He wrote, “Among those signatures are several members of the Rooster Teeth Productions staff, certain members of the Xbox 360 team, and some of the staff from Bungie Studios. Those signatures are also joined by custom artwork by Rooster Teeth Comics artist and Halo fan artist Luke McKay. This console represents some special memories—of which I am quite fond—from the past two years of my life. As you can imagine, this particular unit has a great deal of sentimental value to me and is quite possibly of reasonable monetary value as well.”

Lego Halo

GamerCenterOnline has come across an article in the latest issue of EGM showing a Lego Halo in development. Apparently Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie have been working on the game for the Xbox 360.

The date of the post on GamerCenterOnline is April 1st, so perhaps it is just an April Fools joke. The picture look pretty legit though. If it is true, the game will be releasing sometime Fall 2008.

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Dead

Microsoft has announced it will no longer manufacture the Xbox 360 HD DVD player after Toshiba’s decision to bail out of the long running format war. Microsoft still believes its decision will not have any impact on the sales of the console.

Microsoft official statement regarding the Xbox 360 HD DVD player:

As a result of recent decisions made by Toshiba, Hollywood studios, and retailers, Microsoft plans to withdraw from HD DVD. Xbox will no longer manufacture new HD DVD players for the Xbox 360, but we will continue to provide standard product and warranty support for all Xbox 360 HD DVD Players in the market. As we stated earlier, we do not believe this decision will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace. HD DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room, along with playback of the DVD movies they already own.
