Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE service will be celebrating its 5th anniversary on November 15, 2007. With 8 million active members, Microsoft would like to give back to the community with a few gifts.
As a gesture of thanks to the gaming community, all 8 million members will have the opportunity to download a free Xbox LIVE Arcade game,* available for downloading between 12:01 a.m. PST on Nov. 15 and 11:59 p.m. PST on Nov. 16.** In addition to this, every active member who joined the service in 2002 will receive 500 free Microsoft Points.

Microsoft has announced the release of the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $279.99. The Xbox 360 Arcade will include a wireless controller, HDMI connectivity, 256MB of memory, and 5 best-selling games. The games will include PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy.

Microsoft is feeling generous this holiday season. The Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Elite will both include two free games. Forza Motorsport™ 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance will be included with the recently reduced price of both Xbox 360 consoles.

Gamers will be able to purchase the Xbox 360 at a price of $349.99 and $449.99 for the Xbox 360 Elite. This deal will start at the end of October.

The launch of Halo 3 on Tuesday, September 26, was not so pleasant for some gamers. Claims of damage to limited edition copies of Halo 3 have surfaced around the web due to the packaging causing scratches.
Microsoft has quickly assured gamers that damaged discs are covered under their Xbox Disc Replacement Program.

News is spreading around about an Xbox LIVE user with the gamer tag of “Scar” stealing a copy of Halo 3 Epsilon, a near finished version of the game. Scar was soon busted when he went online with his gamer tag visible to everyone, including Microsoft, and fired up his stolen copy of Halo 3.

Microsoft has announced a few limited edition Halo 3 accessories available September 4, 2007 for the Xbox 360.

Microsoft is taking precautionary measures for its Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel after reports of malfunction of the AC/DC power supply adapter. The adapter is known to overheat, causing the device to release smoke. Although this problem isn’t widespread, Microsoft is still offering a retrofit replacement, and is urging all owners to stop using the AC/DC adapter immediately.
There have been no reported incidences of fire, personal injury or property damage resulting from the component failure in the wheel. Owners can continue to operate the Wireless Racing Wheel through battery operation while waiting to receive the retrofit replacement.

A Belgian source to Gamernode is reporting a future renaming of the premium and core models of the Xbox 360. A picture shows the three models side-by-side with comparisons, and new names. It appears that the premium model will be renamed “Pro”, and the core model will now be called “Arcade”.
