WiiBox 360?

This clever gamer, known as OBsIV, has managed to combine his Xbox 360 and Wii remote to play Halo 2. He calls his creation Xbox 360 Input Machine, or XIM for short.

I’ll let the video speak for itself.

Xbox 360 Officially $50 Cheaper

Microsoft has made it official, the Xbox 360 will now be sold $50 cheaper starting August 8, 2007. The core system is now priced at $279.99, the standard model $349.99, and the Elite at $449.99.

Mitch Koch, corporate vice president, Global Retail Sales and Marketing Group, Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, had this to say, “The fact that we have been able to keep our launch price longer than any other console while retaining our leadership position demonstrates that consumers believe in the value of Xbox 360. On the eve of the best holiday games lineup ever and the launch of ‘Madden NFL 08′, there has never been a better time to jump into Xbox 360.”

Microsoft has also announced a Halo 3 version of the Xbox 360, which will be available sometime this September.

Microsoft: All Games Work Without 360 Hard Drive

Xbox Hard DiskMicrosoft has denied reports that core Xbox 360 owners will require a hard drive to play certain titles. This rumor came about over a ‘hard disk drive required’ sticker reported by Xbox Family.

A Microsoft spokesperson told GamePro, “Every game will work with every Xbox 360 system, but just like some games will require you to have a Memory Unit to save games, some games will require you to have a Hard Drive to experience them.”

There are a reported 20 percent of Xbox 360 core system owners, those lacking a hard drive. The obvious drawback of not owning a hard drive is the inability to save game progress. That doesn’t seem to justify even buying a game that will require a hard drive. In essence you still need to upgrade in order to fully play a game. There is no way someone is going to beat a game in an entire sitting without having to save at some point. The statement by Microsoft is essentially bogus, unless you want to play a game as if it were a demo, you are going to need a hard drive.

Microsoft Launches Xbox US Repair Site

Microsoft’s Xbox.com now offers a repair site for U.S. based customers in an effort to speed the process of repairing faulty Xbox 360s. It may be a good time to think about buying some kind of extended warranty plan when you go purchase a $400 gaming console. It is not a good sign when an entire website is devoted to repairing your expensive purchase, due to frequent hardware failures. At the same time, most hardware manufacturers have a support website, so this is not anything out of the ordinary.

If you are effected by Xbox 360 hardware failures, and are in dire need of repair, visit the official site at service.xbox.com

Possible Xbox 360 Price Cut August

Rumors are flying around that there will be a price cut early August for the Xbox 360. Some sources are speculating a drop to $350 for the pro model, as well as $50 price cuts across the board for the two other models. This quite possibly coincides with several game releases in the month of August, as well as Halo 3 shipping in a few months. Titles include
